Our Trek Made Shorter

The Bridge is Done!

On our annual trek south from Idaho to Arizona, we crossed the newly opened bridge spanning Hoover Dam. It had just opened a scant few days before we crossed it, so good timing there.

We got to attend Tayson's Primary Presentation, also watching Ruth lead the songs for said program as Primary chorister, then made our way down as far as Boulder City. We were dragging the motorcycle on a trailer, so the hotel we chose to stay at had plenty of long parking spots for our long 'rig', which just happened to be just before you get to the dam. We woke up on Idaho time, so we left while it was still dark in the morning.

As we were driving across the bridge, I said ' hmm, you can't see much'; (there were pretty tall walls along both sides). Scott said, 'I don't think we're on the bridge yet'. The next minute, we were on the Arizona side where the road merges into the old road. It was a little disappointing that you couldn't see anything, especially being so high up in the air (900 ft. above the Colorado River) it would have an awesome view of the dam and river below.

Still, it cut probably 45 minutes of our trip. That whole trip is a long one for these old birds, flying south. Any time shaved off is great!

It really is a lot higher than it looks in this picture.
